Biography
Dr. Hasbi Ismailoglu was born in Yenipazar in 1960. He received his BS, MS, and PhD degrees
in Electrical Engineering from Istanbul Technical University in 1984, 1988, and 1996,
respectively.
Ismailoglu worked as a research assistant in the Electrical Engineering Department of
Istanbul Technical University from 1986 to 1998. He then served as an assistant professor
and later as an associate professor in the Electrical Engineering Department of Kocaeli University
from 1998 until 2023. In 2023, he became an associate professor in the Electrical and
Electronics Engineering Department of Yalova University where he continued to work until
his passing.
His research interests included high voltage engineering, discharge phenomena,
lightning, overvoltage protection, and grounding.
Dr. Ismailoglu has made significant contributions throughout his academic career
by teaching several undergraduate and graduate courses and supervising MSc and PhD students.
He also played a key role in establishing and equipping High Voltage Laboratories,
as well as in conducting experimental studies and training courses at various institutions
where he has worked. His efforts have positioned him as one of Turkey's leading experts
in high-voltage engineering. Additionally, he has taken on administrative responsibilities
at these institutions.
Dr. Ismailoglu also contributed to the ELECO Conferences in various roles, including
as an author, scientific committee member, reviewer, and session chair.
Lastly, throughout all these professional and academic activities, he has earned
the affection of his colleagues, students, and relevant individuals in the electromechanical
industry with his extremely kind, hardworking, and cooperative nature.
